I have a new 26 inch 260 Rem Encore barrel. The throat length is so short I can't use factory length ammo. I hand loaded some for it and it seems to be showing higher pressures than it should. When I get the loads down to safe pressures, the velocities are well below what the books show for a 24 inch barrel and mine is a 26 inch barrel. Would the throat being short so I have to seat the bullets deeper in the case result in higher pressures?

It's somewhat common to order tight neck clearances, or even the other way, no turn (neck turning cases) necks. Custom throats can be specified if you plan on shooting just a certain bullet. MGM generally does quality work, but just like with many places, "one slips through". When you attempted to contact them, did you call or just try email? Calling is the best way to go. Did you personally order the barrel from MGM, or did you happen to latch onto one of their barrels via Ed's? Or I suppose you may have even found it as a "clearance/special" type deal from MGM? Bellm throats seperate from chambers and it's more typical for him to do long throats for the really long heavier bullets, particularly the berger tsx's. While he probably doesn't get many requests for short throats, he'd want a casing, and a few samples of the exact bullet for a custom short throat. David White is probably similar. I don't know how much chamber customizing MGM will do, but I would think if it's marked 260 Rem, it should chamber any factory round.
