Any advice on slugs for the T/C Encore Pro Hunter 20 gauge? Remington premiers? Hornady's? Winchester slugs? Any help is much appreciated!

I had nothing but problems with Remington Accu-tips in my 12 g slug bbl. They would all go off! I contacted Rem. about it and they said it was my gun. I did a Bellems Hammer spring upgrade (per their specific instructions) and it didn't help. I was getting about 1-2 out of every box of five not going off. So I was afraid to use any Rem products after that. We have tons of problems with Rem rimfire ammo misfiring in out 4H Shooting Sports meetings also. Seems rampant to have misfires with ANY Remingtin ammunition! You cant seem to tell how accurate it really is because you cant concentrate when you anticipate a misfire.

I would like to reach out to 150. 100 yards is more realistic but I think this 28" barrel could push 150?

Hi Guys, I have tried just about all the slugs out there. I live in a Pa. and hunt the S.E. Pa. special regulated area's (i.e. the mushroom farms). The permits are easy to get at the court house and plenty of deer. I have a 12 ga. and my cousing has 20 ga. SS 28" PH Fully Rifled Slug Guns. We both shoot the Lightfield Hybrid Express Sabot Slugs. There made right here locally in Pa. Someone suggested them to me at the range due to there extreme accuracy. I bought a pack and have been sold on them. Both my cousing and I use them, 12 and 20 ga. slugs (sub 1.5" MOA @ 125yds. using 2-7X32 Leupold scopes). Super deadly up to 200 yards. Perhaps a little more distance (i.e. reach out and touch them) with the 20 ga. Nevertheless, still great. Now for the bad, for a box of Lightfield Hybrids they cost $17.99 over at Cabela's and $19.99 at Bass Pro Shops. However, to cut the expense. If you shoot a lot of sabot slugs like I do. I've bought them by the case from www.natchezss.com out of Tenessee at a discounted rate. They will let you mix/match as long as you buy a case. I know they are pricey for a box of 5 but they are well worth it. I get my limit of deer every season with these. I mean, these hybrids drop them like they been hit by a bag of hammers!!! LOL! I never had one get back up on me. Try them out and let me know how you make out. kimbo

I'll definitely be trying a box of those. Happy to hear that the PH shoots well. What did the case run you? If they shoot well, I'm doing the same thing. I'll report back after this coming weekend to let you know how they shot. Thanks for the info.

Hey JGerber, I can't remember exactly what I paid - I believe roughly $12.99 a box since my cousin bought half 20ga. and I bought the other half case of 12ga. Thats all we shoot is the Lightfields. If I'm not mistaken, Lightfield makes something like 6 to 8 different style 12 ga. and 20 ga. slugs. I like the hybrids, but the plain lightfield sabots are also good. kimbo

The federal Fushions were pretty cheap. I wonder how good they are. I like the price!
