Traded with another member on here and I ended up with a 26" SS 223 barrel. Finally got around to scoping it with a Nikon Buckmasters 3-9x40 and went to the range yesterday morning. Fired a couple sightseers with some FMJ fodder and it grouped them very nicely. I shoot deer with the Barnes TSX in 55 grain configuration so I sent one of them downrange. POI was different so I made a scope adjustment and fired two more. This was the result:

I know it is only two shots, but I'm low on ammo and didn't want to waste anymore. Small X measures 3/4" and these two easily fit inside it with some room to spare. Made a slight windage adjustment and put her back in the truck. I think something will die very soon.

I only shot hearing loads out of that barrel Paul, but they grouped very well.
50grain vmax loaded by Black Hills or Frick where easily in the 3/4" area, and usually better.
I had a 3-9x40 Sightron mildot on it.

If I loaded it right,this is a 3shot 100yard group shot with your old 270barrel Paul .
Factory Federal Vital-shot 130 grain.
I put a Pentax 4.5-12x40 on it.
