I see there's a few places that you can buy a pillar-bedded forend. What exactly does this entail, and is it something I can do my self? I was thinking about going with a laminate stock with pillar bedding, but the more I think about it I think I would almost rather save the weight and do my own, then have the stock/forend camo dipped or something.
So, how hard is this to do? Would it make any difference if I did this on a muzzleloader forend?

Pillar bedding insures that the stock is mounted in the same exact position every time.
