Could someone please tell me if a standard 21" contender forearm will fit a .410 super 16 barrel.
Thanks,
Tyler

Tyler,

When you say ".410 super 16 barrel", surely you must mean the super 16 45/.410. GENERALLY, a 21" forarm will fit. However, there are two differences in 16's and 21's with respect to both barrels and forarms. BOTH came initially with one forend dovetail lock (screw required), in 92 they were changed to two. The two screw forends will fit both, if just the forward dovetail lock is present on the barrel, Just don't use the rear screw. If you have a one screw forend, and two dovetail barrel locks, you'd have to remove the rear dovetail lock from the barrel to install the forend. If you don't currently have a forend, get the 2 screw variety, It eliminates later complications should you later purchase another 16 or 21 with both, so the two screw forend is more universal for use and fit. All 16's (except the later full bull 45-70) 16 will accept the tapered barrel 16/21 forend one screw or 2. 23's will require a different forend, they're full bulls. 21's (while the two screws are located the same, the contours of the channels are different. Mixing forends just doesn't work, at least not right. Then to complicate things, the bull 45-70 16 uses a super 14 pistol forend. The bull 45-70 has the front screw location further back from what it is on the other 16's and 21/23's. "standard" was changed in 1992, there's really two standard 21's barrels and forends pre-92 and 92 and later. All currently available (new) forends are the more universal. You may see trouble if you get a used one, and it happens to be a 1-holer.
