I have just bought an early 70s T/C G1. The forend does not have screws. How is the forend removed? This gun has POPE stamped on the plate under the grip. What is the significance of that?

Pull straight off. Wink It's a ball screw slipping into a tensioned holder

An early add in here will show you a set of barrels with the ball screw
