Hoping I can get some help on this. I couldn't find a 7X57 barrel for my Encore that was in the cost range I wanted at the time. I purchased a nice very reasonably priced 7 mag barrel from a guy here on the forum, had David White re throat and shorten the barrel to 22". I have researched reduced loads for this round however most were severely reduced.
Does anyone have any experience loading the Mag to Mauser velocities with 165-175 grain bullets? If so, I sure would appreciate any information you can give me.
Yeah, I know...I should have just spent the money on a MGM barrel but couldn't quite get that one past my "financial adviser"/wife as I had just spent quite a bit on a custom flintlock.

look at Hodgdon powder site look for MEL you can expand from there IMR powders work very well for this, Blue Dot and others work too but you need to do some math, I like reduced loading my favorite in 223 is 10gr of Blue Dot around 22hornet 22 mag performance, there is A LOT of info for safely reducing loads, With low density or low fill powders you can use synthetic cotton balls or Kpock if you can find it to hold powder in the lower part of the case over the primmer for better ignition, and more and more.... good luck with your project

Moderate Effective Load it was published in the Hodgdon 2009 Annual Manual, I have a copy if you cant find it I can send you a copy snail mail or Fax, still challenged on scanning
