I have a contender in 45/70. The loading manuals, break the loads down into the three actions, Trapdoor, Marlin, and Ruger #1. None mention the TC. Can I use Marlin loading specs for the contender? I have just used the trapdoor in the past and would like to push it a little.
Thanks, LF

G2, Don't know, but you'd think it would
G1, Trapdoor. The frame is tough, but is it worth the risk?

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

The Ruger #1 is a similar action to the Encore but I don't know what pressures they were designed to withstand. Maybe contact Ruger and TC and ask what the acceptable chamber pressures are.

The only similarity is they are both single shot. The Ruger #1 is a falling block action and the Encore is a break open action. The Ruger although substantially stronger is less versitile as the barrels are threaded on and the Encore is fixed with a hinge pin.

Stupid me, I thought the Ruger was break action. They've always been too expensive for me to consider looking at...
