If it is a Contender barrel, then I would say no. The 7TCU that I have is a thinner barrel and I wouldn't trust it. The frame of a Contender may stretch if it is subjected to that much pressure. Others may have more conclusive information, but this is my thoughts

The 7TCU is based on the .223 Rem, not the .264 Rem mag
The encore can handle the belted magnums, tho

Think twice...shoot once.

The Contender won't handle the pressure of a .243, so no. It won't have a belted magnum chambering. 30/30 based cartridges are generally the upper limit. You even need to be a bit cautious with the 45-70.

Can't remember where, probably one of the Bellm articles, that talked about what a Contender could shoot.

If you really want to know what the Contender and Encore can handle go to any of the custom barrel makers sites, let that list guide you. You do need to be careful though. You'll notice that the ultra magnums aren't listed for the Encore. They were for a short while, but then they disappeared. For a while at least one of them offered to replace a barrel they made it in one of those calibers with another "safe" one of your choice.

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!
