I didn't see that this was mentioned, but I think that the .357max qualifies in some of the straight wall hunting zones in Illinois etc., the .35rem and others do not????

That is correct, sir. Illinois deer hunting regulations said the cartridge had to be .30 cal. or larger and the brass case no more than 1.4" long...enter the 30 Bellm.
