Been shooting 55gr. Noslers in the 250 for years, has anyone tried 69 or 75 grain bullets in theirs. I think the twist in the barrel is 1-10.

If it's a standard factory barrel the twist for ALL 22 center-fire calibers is 1:12. C/S or outside custom shops may offer faster twists on special request.

The Bergara barrels are 1-10 twist.

You may be able to get the 69's to stabilize, the 75's probably won't. But if you want to try them, you're probably going to get your best results near your max load for your barrel. More than barrel twist dictates weather the bullet will stabilize. It may stabilize and be accurate enough, but not as accurate as a 60 or 65. 75 most likely will be a little heavy, but all you can do is try. I have a 1-9 twist 280 rem. that hornady said will not stabilize their 168 a-max, but I have some 200 yard 1/2" groups with it that say otherwise.

Why would hornady say that? Standard elk fodder in factory rounds for 7 mag was a 175, and the 280 isn't very far behind for velocity. Sierra 160 SBT's have always shot great in 7X57, 280 and 7 Mag.

Don't know, I got the box and the side of it said for 1-8 twist or faster barrels. So I called them and they told me that the A-max is similar design to a vld and the bullet would be to long....... That guy was wrong. I had a 7 mag and it's favorite bullets were the berger 185 hunting vld's and it was 1-9.5 twist.

My whole point is from my personal experience, people can tell you such and such grain bullet or design bullet has to have x twist to work. But the only way to know for sure is to try them and see.
