That's called "rechamber". The 357 max was originally designed for revolvers. You'll pick up a little performance since there's no cylinder gap, and the long jump into a forcing cone, etc. However, using factory rounds you'll be a little handicapped, this round works better in contenders and encores when handloaded. A little slower powder, and heavier more streamlined bullets, a great one being the Hornady 180 SSP. A ten at 150 is rocking the cusp, much better in the 14. With decent optics/sights in the hands of a good pistol shooter, it ought to work fine. The 357 MAG is marginal at 100 for the same game. The max increases that considerably, especially in a 14. I, personnaly, wouldn't hesitate with your proposed rig. A lot is going to depend on your confidence level, as long as it's reasonable. I can't measure yours, only you can. If you can put 10 out of ten shots in the bottom of a coffee can at 150, you shouldn't have anything to worry about. 2 foot groups at 150, you owe the intended target a different option.

357 MAX is a great deer round. Check out Mike Belm's site he did one for me and it shoots very well
google his webb site since I was just informed that I can not post a link as this is my first post - I signed you just to answer your question as no one had given you a lil - if you go there you will learn more about the MAX than you ever hoped too.
Brass can be hard to find, but Remington does a run every once in a while
