I would like some input on the 10" 45 Colt barrel. (Not the 45Long Colt)

I have a 10" barrel that just says 45 colt. It has a screw in choke but will not shoot 410 shells. Is this the same as the long colt barrel?

Yes, that is .45 long colt. Technically, .45 long colt doesn't exist. It has kind of adopted that name over the years but the real name is .45 Colt. In fact, I think more retailers list it as.45 long colt more than .45 Colt. However, some of the real purists (especially in the Cowboy Action arena) get their panties in a wad when someone calls it a long colt.

You'd have one of the rare barrels that were 45 (long) Colt w/choke that hasn't been rechambered to 410. You can't even get a 2 1/2" 410 to stuff in there? They made a good number, but probably 95% have been rechambered over the years. Screw in or screw on? None of the T/C barrels said "long colt", but most of the literature refers to it as 45 long colt.

In fact, Colt used the nomenclature "Long Colt" on their very own website until at least 2008.

The hubbub over "Long Colt" I've never understood. No one seems to care that 9mm Luger/Parabellum/9x19/9mm NATO.

I guess that answered one question, yours is a screw on, not screw in---octagon as opposed to bull.
