What do i need to have done to my Encore Pistol barrel in 223 to shoot 5.56 in it is it a big deal for a gun smith to open the throat a little. It is a Factory Encore Barrel.

If God brings you to it He will bring you through it.

unless the bullets are seated long, nothing to worry about. Stick one in the chamber and if doesn't drive into the rifling, no issue (if tight or you pull it out and see rifling on the bullet). The cases are the same, I believe just the 5.56 typically has a longer throat for heavier bullets.

a little heavier brass, primers are harder and probably crimped. Runs at a little higher pressures than domestic/commercial. Cases are externally the same, not so on the internal dimensions.

I shoot the interchangeably between bolts and AR15s. I don't separate them when I shoot for grins and giggles.
I do have one AR with a Wylde chamber that is exeptionally accurate with about everything I put through it.
The Wylde chamber is designed to allow both 5.56 or 223.

As they all said, your frame and barrel won't notice the difference. As for COL, has anyone ever heard of a short throat in a factory barrel? Me neither Wink

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

I shoot both 5.56 and .223 in my .223 stock encore pistol barrel. I haven't had any problems.
