It appears to be un-mounted NIP. No scratches or nothin'. I have wanted a .260 for awhile now, but didn't want to pony up the money. This one showed up about 2 weeks ago and I asked the seller to hold it for me and I got taxes back this weekend. Woohoo. Have been looking around for brass, but it is high and scarce. I think I am going to resize .243 instead since it is much easier to find and I already have some. I had tried downsizing .308 for my 7mm-08, but the neck turned out to be too thick and I don't have a neck turner, suspect that won't be an issue upsizing from .243 to .260.

Anyone else formed there own .260 brass and what did you form it from?

I might have an old marquis 6.5 neck turner. Have not seen it in awhile, would have to dig it out to make sure, if your interested.

What about a Neck Reamer? They fit most hand-crank and motorized case trimmers, and the reamers are pretty cheap, plus faster to do than an outside neck turner. No mikeing and re-adjustment until you get it right.

I've read that a small donut can show up at the base of the case neck when making 260 brass from 243. I don't know what issues this may make. I got loose primer pockets after about 3 loads from Remington 260 brass. I just invested in some Lapua 260 brass. I haven't shot any yet though.

Is that a permanent donut or before fire formed? You get a double neck on a 7-30 when forming from 30-30 until you fireform it.

I am cheap, don't want to be spending money on Lapua brass if I don't have to.

I don't think I am going to need a neck turner or reamer, just was stating whey I was going to upsize from .243 instead of downsize from .308.

Thanks.

Rich, I have been having the same dilemma with a 6.5-06 30-06 to thick 25-06 necks split in a few rounds the 270 is a bit more work but is still just short of perfect I DONT WANT TO TURN NECKS...... you may give the Factory 7-08 brass a try

It was before fire forming I think. I didn't try it to see what happened.

I've been making my 260 Rem's from 308 brass. All it takes is a pass thru the fl die. Normally load and after firing I check them with the neck reamer. Have had no problems. Fast and cheap, I use commercial range pickup brass, since its 260 REMINGTON I use 308 brass from Remington. Viola Thomtender

I have a couple of 7mm-08 and don't want to use that brass. I rarely use the .243 brass and figured since I had a different head stamp, I could use that for .260. I may have to resize a .308 and measure the neck and see. Downsizing the .308 to 7mm-08 made the neck too tight in my Mossberg 100ATR that is why I was leery of using .308. Maybe it has a tighter than normal neck. So far, I use LC brass in my ar-10 and winchester in my Sav 12. I do have some r-p that I haven't used that can be used for .260. By the way, originally, I had downsized winchester brass for the 7mm-08. Maybe the r-p is thinner from the start???

Will be ordering dies today and will have to sacrifice a piece of brass of each to see what I get.

Thanks.

Just resized some .243 brass and I don't see that doughnut someone else was talking about. Looks good to me. Dropped in gun fine. Will load a dummy tomorrow and test it out.
