On one of the fleecing sites there's a 28 gauge Contender barrel for sale. It's currently at $676 and the reserve hasn't been met. You have got to be kidding me!!!

Then again, several weeks ago I watched a friends Contender (SS G2 with a 6.8 barrel) go for over $1100.

Apparently you're never too old to learn new things

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

what about contender 410's in 24" (factory and not even custom shop), with openings of 650 and 699.

Aren't they usually attached to an "Or Best Offer" clause? Still, I now remember seeing $800 encore barrels

I love my Encore's, and I can't wait to shoot my Contender, but there isn't a chance in hades I'd spend that much money on a barrel for either. I'd buy a single shot .410 H&R for less than $100, or if I were looking into a 28 gauge (haven't seen an H&R in 28), I'd probably buy an over/under Yildiz for $450. Or if I were looking for higher-quality... move up to a nicer over/under.

Also never quite understood why someone would pay so much for a rimfire rifle barrel for these firearms. I can buy a whole firearm for less than what some of the rimfire barrels were going for. Only exception would be a pistol barrel... just because that's "neat" in my eyes for these firearms. But the rifle barrels.... ehhh.

All the best,
Glenn

If at first you don't succeed... buy newer / better equipment!

The rimfire barrels are all fairly scarce, not made many years. 22's were short time as it was, the 17 even shorter. Besides everyone NEEDS a high dollar single shot 22 lr barrel. You can buy a whole repeater firearm in 22 with several magazines (if they use them) for what an encore barrel gets.

I happened to see that 28 ga barrel while looking for a 243 barrel. It had 32 bids and the reserve was stil not met, had to look at it twice and slowly to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

Couple years back I traded an encore stainless 24" .22 lr barrel for a complete contender setup in .17 remington rifle barrel. It's crazy, rather have my little contender .22 setup.

I'm thinking I sold my 22LRs way too soon. I couldn't justify having a single shot barrel when a 10/22 cost about the same. Of course, it would be cheaper to "practice" with.... NAAAAAAHHHH

and...........you could still find high capacity magazines. Load a bunch of them while watching the super bowl, then go to the range and wipe out a brick of ammo in a matter of minutes.

I don't get it. I was looking for a .22 or .17hmr barrel. People are WAY to proud of their rimfire barrels. Ended up getting a wood stocked savage 93r17 Bolt action for $250...at least a hundo less than just a barrel was selling for
