Is this a factory 10" barrel? It has internal threads at the muzzle end (internal choke)
and holes at 11 & 1 o'clock.. Anyone know if this came this way? Hot shot?

Yep, it's a factory Bull 357 mag hot-shot barrel. It's set up to be used with an internal choke that has five lands and grooves. the tool for inserting and removing is referred to as a "key", somewhat similar to the key used with the 45/44 chokes. Naturally they shipped with the choke and key, if both are missing, it "didn't come that way". There was an octagon version that used an external choke. There is a 44 version as well, with a vent rib, no ports. The 357 hot-shot came out well after both the 45-410 and 44 H-S. When they stopped making the 45-410 it was called 45Colt w/choke. It was resurrected after a few years hiatus and it's the only one of the three still in production. The 357 had the shortest time in production.

Do the porting holes actually help keep her in check?
I assume the accuracy with the 357 is still not so great...

With the choke in, the ports are effectively closed off. With it out and shooting single projectile ammunition, it *may* help some. Accuracy with the 357 and 44 H-S's isn't too awfully bad, they do have some bullet jump, bit not near as much as the 45 colt in a 410 chamber. At 50 yards you should be able to shoot a 4-6" group, maybe tighter if you're a good shot, and seat your bullets out as far as you can get away with. It'd make a good rat gun at the dump, or in the barn, maybe even take a rabbit pretty close. Good if your in a snake area. I'd be curious to know what kind of groups you could get, so how about giving her a try and reporting back.
