I have a encore prohunter with a factory 24in. 45-70 barrel, I have try imr 3031 from 34 grains upto 48 grains, the best it will shoot at fifty yards is about a 4in. group, than I try imr 4198 from 28 grains up to 36, the best I got out of it was a 3 in. group, im using 405 cast performance bullets with gas checks, anyone have any idea what I could try-thanks, I for got to mention this a scoped rifle

Most of the time I use H322 powder with 400 grainers, standard primers. I would rather not say the charge, but I do watch Hawaii 50.

Reloder 7 has worked well for me in the 405 grain gas check in my Handirifle with 22" bbl.

I was just getting ready to tell him to drop down to a 300 grain bullet and a little lighter load and see if that would go a long ways toward bringing the gun back to zero. A little less flinch would do wonders for grouping a load. With that 405 grain bullet what are you going to hunt. Lead is not hard enough to bring down an Elephant reliably so back down to 300 and bring down anything you want to in North America. The flinch will be a lot less also.

that is just amazing. From 4 inches or 3 inches your best at 50 yds. down to one hole at 50 with just a primer change. almost unbelievable...
