Here are pictures of a Williams sight that was included on Super 14 barrels that TC started making for the Silhouette shooters. They replaced this with a significantly cheaper looking sight after a short while.

These were what you'd find on early barrels...

Excellent pictures that really help me identify what is what. Thank you.

Who made the cheaper version target sight? Is it a Williams as well?

Steve

-and there appears to be several different front sight styles. A cast piece that was soldered on, a machined blank that was screwed on with a pinned front blade. and another style that is screwed on that is nicely contoured, very aesthetically pleasing and has a dovetail for the actual sight.

What is the general age or generation of these styles. Are the nicely contoured ones an aftermarket sight or just an earlier factory sight.

I've got more pictures, there are a heck of a lot of different sights on Contender... There are three or basic types of front sights, I'll see what I can find for pics. The first are soldered on, the second are the standard screwed on, and the third are the ramped sights for the Williams/Silhouette.

Sorry Steve, I'm not sure which one you're talking about? The target sight was something you could by during the 90's (Wish I still had my Fox Ridge catalogs), I'm not sure if it came on a barrel or not. They were an option from the Custom Shop.

By the way, you CANNOT tell how old a barrel is from the sights on it. Sights had, and continue to have, a serious problem with walk-about and get swapped from barrel to barrel very easily.

Again, thank you.

I just got a super 14 barrel in 41 Magnum that has target sights (the cheaper version compared to the pics).

These were the standard sights at least through a good deal of the late 80's and into the 90's

The early 10" barrels and the permanent front sight.

Somewhere early on, the short sight on the octagon barrel was replaced with a longer version

index.php?t=getfile&id=6748&private=0

If you look at the side you can see that it isn't a solid piece, and the sight screw isn't recessed

Found a side picture

These longer sights were replaced a bit later by

index.php?t=getfile&id=6749&private=0

What made these a pain was you had to punch out the pin in order to get the sight off the barrel
