Can you post pics of the frame and the locking blots on the barrel?

Frame from the side, locking bolts from the back and looking down.

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

where are locking bolts located, my Contender is an old one build on early 70's, serial 30xxx with a 10" 44 mag barrel

got it as B-Day present on August this year, took it to the field and fired couple of times 3 months ago

This is what I want to see

index.php?t=getfile&id=6770&private=0

Basically I want to know if the trigger group hinges at the front of the frame or is the pivot above the trigger.

Second is if the locking bolts are a single piece or double.

Here's what I'm trying to find out

index.php?t=getfile&id=6771&private=0

I suspect you have a locking bolt like either one on the left, what we're hoping for is you've got a split set like on the right.

If it's a single bolt then your best bet is going to be calling TC (S&W) and work from there, or buy a set of split lugs from one of the vendors that has them.

Bullberry will sell a set for $25

I might be inclined to just send to S&W and let them fix the issue. They should cover under warranty and will pay shipping both ways. Give them a call. If it has a solid instead of split, I believe they will replace them.

Have you tried to pull the forend off and removing the hinge pin to get it to open?
