I am making 35 Remington brass from 308. The process is a bit laborious but the resulting cases are strong due to case wall thickening during the process, with the additional downside of a reduced case capacity compared to the 35 Rem. Due to decreased case capacity chamber pressures can climb if not careful to reduce powder charges from 35 Rem loads, but I found these cases and loads perform well against 35 Rem brass and loads.

Anyone else also making 35 Rem from 308 or other brass? What ae your experiences?

I haven't tried it, but you have piqued my interest. Did you have to trim any of the base or rim of the 308 cases so they would fit?

My barrel and extracter accomodate the thickened rim without any problems. I have seen 308 modified to 35 Rem for sale where the seller did trim the rim. The process in the link provided by gemihur incudes triming the rim with a home made jig. That guy sells his converted brass for $.60 each; about 40-50% less than what I see 35 Rem brass selling for. The big adjustments that have to be made to the brass are full-length resizing to 0.457 (I use a bullet sizing die), full-length resizing to reshape and size the shoulder and neck, reaming the neck to 0.358, an triming the case to length. I anneal my cases twice during initial resizing steps. I don't mind the reduction in case capacity because I use these cases for lighter weight handgun bullets and don't miss the loss. I haven't attempted full loads with the modified cases yet but have heard from others that the Hornady Leverevolution 200gr load can be reproduced safely in the modified 308 brass.

Guess I can take a .308 and stick it in backwards and see if there is enough room to clear the breech. Smile I have plenty of .35 rem brass now, but making my own would be advantageous in the future.

Thanks.

I make a rimmed 35 Remington using 30-40 Krag brass for use in my Contender. I had MGM cut the rim in the chamber when it was built. The chamber can use factory 35 Remington as well. To make it I cut to rough length just below the shoulder,chamfer/deburr, size the brass in my 35 Remington FL die, trim to then Indiana length of 1.8, chamfer/deburr, then I outside turn my necks and load with a fireform/hunting load.
