6.5 x 30-30 [message #42537] |

I am sure this has been done, could not find anything about it. It would be for a carbine length Contender and was wondering if anyone here had any experience with something like this. It would give a good cartridge to work from. Low enough preasure and still have the longer range capabilities of the 6.5 bullet. Just something I have been wondering about for while but never really done anything about it. If you have any knowledge of something like this let me know and lets talk about it. Thanks for any help and peace be upon you.

Crubear is that based on the 30-30 case? I found some about it but not what I was looking for. I had been thinking about it for a while and a 6.5 based on the 30-30 case just seemed like a perfect fit of accuracy and distance and in a Contender to boot. Since the 6.5 is so good at longer range, like in the Creedmore and Grendel. I have seen Grendel barrels listed but am afraid of the pressure in a Contender. I have an Encore but don't like it nearly as well as the Contenders that I have. The case of the BRM sure looks like it might be a 30-30, but can't always tell by pictures. Have a great weekend.

From what I'm reading, it's a necked up (and blown out) 219 Zipper. It can be formed from the 30/30 though. Size, fireform, and trim - it's a little shorter than the 30/30. Appears to be no more work than a 357 Herrett, but not cutting off as much brass.
It's intriguing, and at just over $325 (standard "factory") and Custom dies - $60. Shoot, you pay more for just the custom barrel from some folks
Here's some write up on it
