Anyone out there tried using IMR4227 in the 7TCU? I have a Encore 12" which I load the 140SP Sierra and played around with a few different loads starting from 15g up to 16.5g I seem to get good mixed results thinking that I have it dialed in but then I get a bit of a group variation even within the same charge. There is no load data that I can find using the IMR4227 but wonder if that powder is just too inconsistent.

The only data I have found so far is from Lyman 47th edition 130gr jacketed start 15.2 max 20.0 so your right in there, I have found in my own notes that at or near max produce the most accurate with IMR 4227 I shoot it in my Herretts also but lean more toward the 4198s and 3031

I have used IMR4227 with a 135grain GC cast boolit. Also, use 2400 with the 120 sierra PH. The sierra is extremely accurate with 2400. I have also found data for H110. These powders produce noticeably less muzzle blast than the slower rifle powders do and are as fast out of my 10" barrel. I found the data in my Lyman pistol loading manual.

Thank you all,
**I will check out the Lyman book and also play around some more with the loads. Noticed in the link posted above that they use CCI 400 primer and I use Rem 7.5 Benchrest. I could opt to try the CCI's to test that combo. I also wonder about Max load as I have heared that the TC's tend to lean that way whereas the Encores I have produce better results not getting up to max load. I guess the chambers and bores could be better ???

I am also toying with the idea to try some 120gr HPBT to see how they are affected for accuracy out past the 200yd to 300yd.

You'll find 120 gr. very satisfying.
The TCU is more efficient and possibly more accurate than the Waters.

The cast bullet mold of his test the Soupcan is still available from Midsouth. If you ever do start casting that is a good one.
Mold is cheap for a 2 or 6 cavity custom.
