I just bought a katahdin 45-70 barrel for my encore. It's one of the older blued, 18" ported ones. Looking into the muzzle end, the ported area appears to be threaded on. Are they removable? Or did they thread it on and then do something to make it permanent?

While I don’t have the Katahdin with ports, I have 3 other ported barrels. I’ve never seen anything to indicate that TC threaded the muzzle brakes on. The 3 that I have are for contenders and the ported sections are larger than the barrel diameter so it’s hard to tell if there is a seam.
