Where have the .357Max reloaders vanished to, an underground cult?
David White, Doc, and most others have seemed to disappear.
Is Emily [Marty's daughter] the only one 'loving' it today?

Data is so limited [that I see], and only in bits here and there.
The 357 Maximum FB page hasn't had a post in three+ years.
Has anyone used No. 9 powder with cast bullets (or something similar) ?

The 357Max is one of my super favorite cartridges. Is there anywhere,
these days, that the lovers of this jewel congregate?

Please help, before I end up with too much time on my hands, that the
'Queen' starts expecting me to increase my achievements on her mile-long honey-do list(s).

Signed,
Desperate

There is a private Facebook page with 815 members and plenty of recent posts. A lot of Facebook pages went private, or opened a new private page and only invite trusted people because the anti-gun crowd is searching out firearm related pages and reporting them.

I've been considering opening a MeWe page specifically for the .357 Max.

I've never used #9 powder at all.

I own an Encore rifle, a Contender carbine, and a Contender pistol, all in .357 Max. It's my favorite cartridge.

All the best,
Glenn

I bought a used 14 inch SSK 357 Max Contender barrel 3 years ago and I shot a doe with it on next to last day of hun season in Ohio. Load is Lilgun and Hornady 180 XTP @ 1950 FPS. At the shot doe jumped in the air and walked away like nothing happened. 30-35 yds later she feel over dead!

I’ve been shooting the .357max for around seven years now. During that time I’ve tried out hundreds of different loads and tested them in both my Encore barrels and my Win Low Wall. To date, my most accurate loads have been the 180 grain Speer HotCore bullet on top of VihtaVouri N110 and N120, both at maximum right off the VihtaVouri on-line loading data. Last weekend I shot three consecutive five shot groups at 107 measured yards (my deck to my backstop) that ranged from .8 to .88” c-c. I have several loads that will easily do under 1,5” with different powders and I’ve found some powders simply create radical vertical stringing with any charge weight. I managed to get three deer with this load last hunting season with two of them being a lasered 189 yards. I’m in the process now of trying this powder with some Hornady 200g bullets to see if I can get some decent results. We’ll see what happens.

I bought a MGM 20 inch barrel last year and loaded 24 gr of H110 and Hornady 180 bullets. At 100 yards it is between 1-1.5 inches but that is with a low power scope.I have not shot anything but paper so far.

I bought my first Contender back in 1984. It had a 10" max barrel. I really like the maximum. The max has been my deer killer since 1984 using the pistol. Wallacem in Georgia
