Was out shooting prohunter 45-70, I have loaded with some 450 grain paper patch bullets an some 500 grain grease groove bullets, all these were loaded with black powder, what a blast. Have to do more of this, anybody else do this

I shoot a good bit of the 45-70's and have grown to appreciate the lighter bullets.
I'm into contenders so not as much gun to absorb the grief.
I admire your authenticity of propellant but usually use Trail Boss to 'soften' the blow.
Keep on shootin', man!

I've seen it done and really appreciated the smoke cloud. Keep careful check on the brass and clean in quickly after shooting.

Loved the 45-70 back in the days when recoil was fun.

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

Encore 45-70 headed my way. Ought to be able to shoot a little faster and heavier loads. 405gr acme slugs.....
