I'm a new member and glad I stumbled across this site. I had the prohunter frame, humted with it for a season and sold it, didnt like the hammer. I have been hunting with these encores for over a decade now and have never had the misfire problem, but I have never used the hammer spur.

A TC service tech told me about 4 years ago the reason for their "no Hammer extension" was that with the added weight and resultant increase in force, the firing pin could pierce the primer cup on 209 primers used in muzzleloader barrels. Don't know if that is still their position or not.

I've got the Bellm TC's extension on mine with the spring they recommend and have so far fired hundreds of rounds of 300wm, 280rem and .22-250 ammo without a hitch.
