I like having only one screw to lose instead of two - and, I can use one forend for both rifle and pistol

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!

There are those who swear that the hanger bar makes a difference, there are those who aren't sure or don't know. I fall under the latter. What I have found is you can sometimes cut down on vertical stringing with a very minor adjustment. I tighten the front screw (furthest from the frame) down to where the bar will easily slide back and forth. I then tighten the rear screw (closest to the frame) very snug. This way as the barrel warms up it isn't bound at two points and shouldn't bow up.

By using the bar I'm also not changing the pressure exerted on the barrel by the forend screws. It's hard to tighten them the same every time you put the forend on.

Best pic I've seen in a while - http://www.strattoncustom.com/Forend-Hanger-Bars-Contender-C S14-Super-14-pistol.html

Just another way to connect a forend to a barrel.
