I am having trouble here in Arizona talking to gunsmith's on where the measure points are on a encore barrel. I want to build a short barrel encore rifle for traveling on my quad. I want it right to the 16" limit. Had on built and the gunsmith told me he knew what he was doing and I ended up having it cut down further so I could use as a pistol. Can anyone clear this up for me. I always thought it was from the end of the breech to the end of the barrel. excluding the extractor.

For the Encore/Contender it's easy, just as you said, measure the barrel

Honestly, I have all the barrels I want or could ever need..... wait, look, there's another!!
