HI.
I am reloading S&W 500 for my T/C

Encore rifle with a 21" barrel. I am using 300gr Hornady FTX bullet.
How much powder can I use. I have 4227 and 4064 and 4198 powders.
Anyone have any suggestions or good loads they would like to share.
AL

Al,
I couldn't find any data for those powders with a 300 gr bullet but I did find data for 275 and 325 gr bullets. They listed 4227 and a 275 gr bullet from 40.6 to 45.2 and a 325 gr bullet from 38.7 to 43.0. This was on a TC with a 15" barrel. I would say your range with a 300 gr bullet would be around 39 to 44 but because of the longer tube start at the bottom end and work up slowly. They listed loads for the 300 gr but with different powders. This information is from LoadData.
Good luck and good shooting...
Greg
