My encore barked again on Friday evenings hunt, taking a nice 8 point.
The most interesting part to me was the fact that due to a slight miscalculation on my part,I shot about 2" left of where I wanted to,and CENTERED a 3" elm tree, passing through it into another 2" sapling, and then into the deer.
The 250grain T/C Shockwave Bonded bullet entered at the last rib,and angled through his liver and lungs, through the shoulder plate, and stopped just under the hide !
Powder charge was 1-150grain Should Good Stick.
Range was April 45-50 yards.
I was quite impressed with how much bullet was left after hitting 5"+ of wood!
I will weigh the bullet when I get a chance to see what remains.

This just proves that EVERY shot needs to be investigated!
The bucks tail never went up as he retreated straight up hill, including going up several 3 foot ledges !
It turned out that he had NO TAIL to flag ,just a 1" nub ! He didn't bleed for 30-40 yards.
If I went by how he reacted,I never would have known I hit him!

Congrats on the kill. Did you ever get around to weighing what was left of that bullet?
All the best,
Glenn

If at first you don't succeed... buy newer / better equipment!

Just dug out the scale. Very surprised at the finding!
After passing through 5" of wood, and April 16-18" of deer, including the shoulder plate, the bullet still weighs 238.5 grains!
Started out as a 250 grain T/C Shockwave Bonded (blue tip)in an easy glide sabotaging.

Nice buck! Maybe it was the last deer my dad shot at with a bow.... Shot the tail off from 5 ft away and never went bow hunting again lol! Of course that was 30 years ago...
