I shot this 10 point at 6:50 AM opening day in WV at 60 yds. He sure was a fighter, with 3 points broken off one side and part of a point on the other side!

309JDJ, most likely a Contender handgun would be my best guess. he did say 60 yards.

Yep. Contender 14 inch Stainless barrel chambered in 309 JDJ. Shoot Nosler 165 gr BT @ 2300 fps.

wow, I'd been using that load on an elk. That's one of the ones based on the 225 Win case, isn't it? Good going, too bad about the missing points; does give him a little "character" though.

309 JDJ is based on the 444 Marlin. You run a 444 case into a 308 sizer die just enough that you have to close the action with a firm SNAP. Load a reduced load to fire form the case. My barrel is very accurate.. Couple years ago I shot up all of the loads I had, 18. Got lazy with 5. target was at 100 yds!

Took a picture of it for you. Barrel purchased from SSK Industries, slab side Contender frame, Burris 3x9 pistol scope.

Recoil is stout! It all depends on the individual's sensitivity to recoil. I have been shooting the 309JDJ,375JDJ,35-06JDJ 445SM for several years so I'm use to recoil. Last fall I let a father & son, each shoot the 309JDJ and the smile on their face was priceless. Both said WOW! My load is 50+ grains of powder and a 165 gr bullet.
