Hello
Been a while since I have posted. I have been testing a number of handloaded slug loads and some commercial slug loads. Previously I have read that Fiocchi and Cheddite primers will pierce. I was using these for my hand loaded slugs. Recently I have noted pierced primers in both hand and commercial loads. The numbers are as follows:
Federal 300 grain 3 inch: 1 out of 4 pierced
Winchester Partition 3 inch: 2 out of 4 pierced
Winchester Dual Bond 3 inch: 2 out of 4 pierced
Fiocchi 3 inch: 3 out o 7 pierced
Cheddite 3 inch: 10 out of 17 pierced
I have looked to see if the firing pin is eroded and does not appear to be. I have ordered extra firing pins about 6 months ago.
Suggestions????
