I haven't bought any new barrels for my Contenders or Encore for many years.I seem to find decent older barrels in good condition. As a result I'm not up to speed on new barrels.

My question is concerning a Thompson Encore 20 gauge Pro Hunter stainless steel slug barrel. All of my stainless steel barrels for both my Contender and Encore have a what appears to be a SS barrel lug.The new barrel that I just purchased has a blued barrel lug. This barrel was also advertised in a clam shell pack but it was shipped without any Thompson packaging.

Is this a legitimate stainless steel barrel or is it something else such as the Weathershield ?

This is to be a gift and the packaging is important.I've always schooled my boys to save all boxes associated with this hobby because you may never know when this will become important.

In viewing the TC website, they only show the SS barrels as having SS lugs.

Any help concerning this issue would be appreciated.

Thanking members in advance.
